Ms. Mary,

I purchsed a COMMON PRAYER AND CHURCH HYMMS , and ADMINISTRATION OF SACREMENTS, AND OTHER RITES, AND CEREMONIES OF THE CHURCH, ACCORDING TO THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND, together with the Psalter,or Palms of David, Pointed as they are to be Sung or Said in THE CHURHES; AND THE FORM AND MANNER OF MAKING, ORDAINING, AND CONSECRATING OF BISHOPS, PRIESTS, AND DEACONS, CAMBRIDGE , year of 1891, I was shocked at the find, I purchased for one Pound at the LEICESTER MARKET TWO YEARS WHEN THERE, which I treasure I will now read it, it is a very thick little book , but it will give me the lacking of the knowledge and correct me on Parish rulings, although our Mum married and moved here after the war , She married a Catholic and there was quite a bit of stir it caused, broken ties, so I am now looking in this 1891 book of Common Prayer, THE FORM OF SOLEMNIZATION OF MATRIMONY, it states only that the Banns of Marriage be asked, And if the persons that are to be married dwell in divers Parishes, the Banns must be asked in both Parishes: and the Curate of the one Parish shall not solemuize Matrimony betwixt them without a Certificate of the Banns being thrice asked, from th Curate of the other Parish.

Second entry:

At the day and time appointed for solemnization of Matrimony, the persons to be married shall come into the body of the church with their friends and neighbors: and there standing together, the man on the right hand, and the Woman on the left, and the Priest shall say, Dearly beloved we are gathered here, and etc, etc, almost the same as our vows I took when marrying my husband, but is does say they could not go outisde their Parish , only that the Banns had to asked in both Parishes , thrice, but it does state they could not leave there Parishes to marry, of course this book was 1891, perhaps the Church changed their laws later to accomadate mariages outside the families Parishes. I believe all the marriages were in the PARISHES that I have , I have no other documents to prove otherwise, and my Cains were farmers, but they were also authors, and were tanners, and surveyors, and seamen, so I feel they married whom they desired outside their Parishes, they were a people of very strong wills, and today have that nature of character. Were you able to find anything on Joney, I just received information on GILT he was Anne's brother, but that is all that was found on him. I received a book , SUNDAY, at church, that has entrys about the Cain's I have requested two of them and I would love to send one to you. Please e-mail if you would like this book. It is a Heritage Book , 1994 and another small book about the Walker-CAIN families in Blackville , South Carolina, USA, so if you like please e-mail and I shall get them in the mail as soon as I receive the extra books. Thank you for replying and I hope we can find Joney and what happened to her.
Gratefully yours,
Mrs. Rosa
