Derby Square was one of the smartest parts of
Douglas then & still exists with its central park
now in municipal ownership. Houses little altered
but many now in apartments although some are
in family use. In 1861 census the headteacher is
James A Mcmullen - 38- born Ireland, qualified LONDON.
The boys seem to mainly be boarders from UK , Ireland or even overseas. Glenlyon House seems to
have been on or very near to Douglas Promenade.
