I have come across different spellings of the name of my ancestors.
The different spelling started with my grandfather’s name: Henry Mullicrane, christened 9-04-1860 in Liverpool.
His father could be John Mullacrane, birth year abt 1831, born on the Isle of Man.
Or it could be John Mollycharane, christening 4-08-1833 at Kirk German.
Their father’s name, according to the 1881 census, is spelled as John Mylechraine, birth year abt 1812 in Lonan.
But then, who was John Mollecharane, married 20-02-1762 at Ballaugh?
The megalithic burial chambers Mull Circle, or Meayll Circle, are names that come to mind. Is this where the name Mullacrane might have come from?
