Re: Ward, McAlearney, Fitzpatrick marriages

Hi Erla

Charles & Catherine McCreanney were my grandparents and I remember them both well. In fact I lived with them during the war years as my mother had two other children (my two younger sisters).

I can add that they had the following children (may not be absolutely complete but does include all those who survived infant hood - is there such a word?):

Alice - married Joe Cooper
John - married Agnes Fitzpatrick (his cousin)
Phyllis (Philomena) - my mum - married Bertie Cooper
Gertrude (after whom I am named) she died aged 24
Charlie & Hughie (twins) Charlie's wife was called Betty and Hughie's Amy
Mary - married Leonard Higgins (they divorced)
Another son (I think called Thomas) who died as a baby.

Aunty Mary died last year - the last of that generation.

Catherine's parents were Alice Flinn (sister to Daniel Flinn) and Francis Joseph Fitzpatrick (who was with the Irish Regiment based at Castle Rushen - according to Aunty Mary). Alice is buried in Douglas Borough Cemetry but can't find anything on Great Grandfather - possibly the regiment moved and he died elsewhere.

Don't know if this helps but please get back to me if you need anything else and I can help - I am living in the Island.

Cheers

Trudie (Cooper)

ps - are we related??
