Edward Hope

I believe my ggrandfather Edward Hope may have been on he Isle of Man in the late 1830's and/or early 1840's. He had a son (Orry Hamilton Hope) born at Glendoo, Parish Onchan in 1843. Edward Hope's wife,Mother of Orry, Mrs Jane Hope,(my ggrandmother) was residing with her mother Mrs Ann Lee at their residence at Glendoo at the time. We have a copy of Orry's baptism at Kirk Onchan, but can find no trace of his father. We believe he could have been in some military establishment. A recent visitor to N.Z. from the Isle of Man, said there had been Army barracks at Castletown/Castleton. Can you verify that please, and is there any way I could find out if my ggrandfather was ever serving there. Thank you in anticipation,

June Allan.
