Knockaloe

Knockaloe

Does anyone know when it was first named? (was it before the Radcliffe/ Ratliff families farmed here and does the name mean anything in Manx?).

The Stanley's of around 1480 had links to a place Knockyn in Shorpshire,(George Stanley/ Baron Strange of Knockyn) I know this is unlikely to be linked with Knockaloe but with a slight similarity I thought it was worth a question and investigation.

I found this in the Manx Notebook from the 1428 Garrison Roll, which may have been the place. When does the place name next appear?

"Also my lordes conyngs by syde.the milne and knawtkawley both ar destroyet and no flesshe broght in to the Pele"

Translated as
"Also my lordes conyngs[rabbits] beside the mill and knawtkawley [? Knockaloe] both are destroyed and no flesh brought into the Peel,"
