Re: Sheards
In Response To: Sheards ()

Sorry I have not got back sooner with an update - but unfortunately been away from home. Since making the original posting have discovered a number of things that I am trying to confirm from other sources.

William L Sheard was in fact Esther Leece son - the L in his name stands for Leece. His father was Henry Sheard a fisherman.

I have found Henry Sheard on the 1881 census in lodgings at 2 Jib Lane on the 1881 census I have found also found Esther on the 1881 working as a servant and being visited by Henry Sheard (her son by Henry Sheard the fisherman) they married the following year which I understand legitimised the birth under Manx law as they married within a year of Henry being born.

Esther parents were William Leece and Charlotte.

Charlottes name is spelt with a C but I suspect that should be in fact spelt with an S and I think her surname was Shimmin and she was born in Ramsey in 1831 and her parents were George Shimmin and Esther Fell but unsure how to confirm this as I am new to all of this.
