LYNCHEY/LINCHEY/LYNCH 1800'S

I am hoping that someone who did not see my previous listings may be able to help me with this family.

Andrew LYNCHEY/LINCHEY/LYNCH married Jane IRVING/IRVINE married, by licence at Ballaugh 15/06/1841; also with the permission of Andrew’s guardian William QUAYLE.

Andrew became a Marine Store Dealer in Hanover St. Douglas and lived at 2 Drinkwater St., he also owned houses and premises at Cattle Market St occupied by William Lindsay and at Hill St. Castleton occupied by ?? Bell.

Andrew and Jane had a number of Children including Mary who married a Mr. TOOHIL/TWOHILL of Liverpool and Sarah who married Patrick FISHER and had at least 1 child Margaret.

I am descended from Sarah LYNCHEY who was sentenced at Castle Rushen in 1833 and transported to OZZ in 1835, a son Thomas was sentenced at the same time and transported separately. She was allowed to take 2 daughters and 1 son with her. There was another son who was left behind because he was above the age (of 8) which the authorities permitted to accompany their mother.

I hope that Andrew was the son left behind and that someone may be able to assist me by throwing some light on this family.

The convict indent stated that Sarah was 50 years old, Roman Catholic widow and the mother of 5 children.

How and when they arrived on the IoM and what happened to her husband etc. etc, are all a brick wall that has been there for a couple of years.

Any assistance will be most appreciated..

Cheers
