In Response To: Re: William GARRETT 1800-1880 ()

I led you astray and possibly may have sent you down the wrong path. The Lace family below was in the1851 census, not 1861, as I originally posted. Sorry for my cut and paste error.

Next Household:
John Lace Head Mar 55 Farmer of 20 acres b Peel
Isabella Lace wife 65 b Patrick
Thomas Lace son 27 Blacksmith b German
Jane Lace dau 33 Unm Dressmaker b German
Ann Crellin Serv Unm 15 b German
John Kinrade grandson 8 b German
John Kinrade is the son of Jane Lace and William Kinrade

William Garrett and Jane Lace have two children christened in German the IGI:
Ann Isabelle Sept 12 1852 and
Catherine Margaret Aug 1 1858.

In 1861 Jane Lace would be 43, Catherine would be 2 or 3 and Ann would be 8 or 9.
As the ages correspond and Thomas, William's son from his first marriage, is living with them (and in the same profession), it seems most likely that your William did marry Jane Lace.
It seems probable that Jane Lace came with some nine acres of farmland. The IGI has no other candidates for Ann and Catherine.
If you obtain acopy of William's will (film 0106490 in Brain's index), you may be able to confirm this.
