Re: Cavendish/Corjeag/Ned
In Response To: Re: Cavendish ()

Thanks Frances and Donna,

I've pretty much mopped up all the Cavendishes & Corjeags in the censuses, and attempted to match them up to such IGI/register entries/wills etc as I have to date, but there are still a few who seem to have disappeared, possibly emigrated to Australia & America. I haven't done much before census dates yet.

The Cavendish/Corjeag variation makes life interesting when you come to match a rounded age of an 1841 Cavendish to a possible Corjeag birth when they all seem to be called Thomas anyway! I have a will where it is possible that a William is referred to both as Corjeag & Cavendish by different people. Out of interest, my family have always pronounced it "c'jegg".

I wasn't aware Frances that the name had started out as Cavendish - I'd thought the change was in one direction only. Is there information on where they might have come from before they settled in Michael?

Has anyone come across a mention of Ned-e-niart anywhere?
