I have no connections - but have him in my files as occasionally Creer gets written as Greer. He was recorded (as Greer) in the 1851 census as living at 2 Christian Terrace, Southwell Street, Liverpool with his wife Catherine born Liverpool about 1827 and son Frederick born 1851 also Liverpool. A shipwright in 1851. The name Greer originates in Scotland and is unusual in the IOM, whereas Creer is a Manx name. The name Greer seems right here and not a corruption of Creer as I have no birth records for a Frederick Creer around 1825. Hope this is of some help.
