Re: SKILLICORN's in WW II Nominal Index Australia

Dear Sue and Elizabeth

Thank you for your contributions to assist me pulling it all together.

What I have pieced together already...

My grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Skillicorn (though we all called her Mollie DOB 10/11/1908) who did marry Raymond on 31st October 1947.

My great grand mother's name was Amy Lucy Skillicorn (though it would read that she we listed as next of kin as Lucy not Amy). From what I can tell, Raymonds father - Bertie Phillip Aubrey Skillicorn 1880 (Engine Driver) was born in Bathurst NSW and his mother - Amy Lucy Jones (1888) born Redfern NSW. I believe that Ray had two sisters (Irene M and Phyllis) and two brothers that were deceased before Raymond was born.

It is my understanding that after my grandfather Raymond died (31st October 1950) there were disputes over property and connections with the Skillicorn family were lost.

I spoke to my Mum and Dad last night, and they helped filled in some gaps. I did a little more searching and came across Philip Skillicorn who rode from Bathurst to Sydney http://simplyaustralia.net/issue2/skillicorn2.html though I am not sure how reputable this source is just now. If this is true, then this links us back to the Isle of Man.

Thank you for your help and suggestions. I look forward to visiting the Isle of Man again someday and meeting some of my family. I was there for a very short time in 2003 but should have done some research before I arrived. :-)

Thanks again,
Megan
