Hello,again,Meg and thank you for your reply, although I'm sorry that I just do not know the answer to your query about Phillip Kennaugh and Catherine Rowley.
To be the parents of Gilbert, they must have married in the mid 17th century, 1660 or so and there are few records surviving from that period. I did find an entry in the Manorial Roll for a Phill.Kenaugh of Ballashebbag in the Parish of German. I have not heard of Ballashebbag but the Parish of German is north of Malew.
On my next visit to the I.O.M. I shall try to spend some time in the Manx Museum with the records of old wills and the Bishops Transcripts to see if I can throw any light on the subject. If I find anything of interest I shall let you know. Best wishes, Eleanor
