There was a ferryboat service that took people across the harbour to Peel Castle and still operated around 1950's. It saved a long walk over the bridge.

The distance was only about 25 Yards and cost 10p ( old money) return.

The holiday visitors enjoyed it with much amusement trying to get in and out of a large rowing boat.

A walk bridge/gate has recently been built across the same spot.
