Re: brew/lyell family
In Response To: Re: brew/lyell family ()

I checked the marriage index. Richard Thomas L Walker and Margaret Brew are shown in the September quarter of 1877.
Going back to the Ancestry file on the Familysearch site, Richard Lyell Walker's parents are shown as Rupert Walker and Ellen Thorley from Hall Green Cheshire. I found them in the marriage index in the July quarter of 1847 (her name is given as Morley).
Rupert was a railway porter. They are in Odd Rode, Staffordshire 1851-1881 and Richard is with them for 1851, 1861 and 1871. In 1881 Richard and Margaret plus Thomas a two-year-old born in Birkenhead are at Ballasayle, German with Philip Brew, Margaret's father, once more a widower.
However, there is no mention of a Thomas or a Lyell in any of Richard's census records. It is not only Odd Rode that is odd.
