Re: Hudsons of Port St Mary
In Response To: Hudsons of Port St Mary ()

Possibly James Hutchin and Jane Taggart.
Different spellings such as Hudson, Hudgeon and Hutchin seem often to have been used for the same individuals.
For example the IGI has John Hutchin, the son of John Hutchin and Margaret Crellin, christened on August 2 1840 in Rushen.

In the 1841 census in Rushen District 17 page 1 Entry 93, there is John Hudgeon 27, Margaret Hudgoen 24 and John Hudgeon 10 months.

In the 1851 census in Port St. Mary Rushen District 4 HO107/2526 folio 350 page 64 household number 84

This is the same family as Catherine was christened in Rushen on December 15 1850, daughter of John Hudgeon and Margaret Crellin

In the IGI the best bet for John's age is John Hutchin, son of James Hutchin and Jane Taggart, christened April 4 1814.

In the 1851 census this could be the family in Port St. Mary HO107/2526 folio 349 page 59 household number 79 (five houses away from John & Margaret)
James Hudson Mar 74 Fisherman b Rushen
Jane Mar 73 b Malew
Catherine dau mar 25 b Rushen

According to the IGI the parents of these last two were John Hudgeon and Jane Kelly and John Hutchen and Charlotte Clague.
