Re: Causes of death
In Response To: Re: Causes of death ()

Hello Francis

There is a long history of early and sudden death in my family, and which has been shown to be due to an hereditary condition. One of the aims of my research is to trace the specific line most likely to carry the defective gene.

Death certificates provide the immediate cause of death but do not describe the situation leading to the fatal event. For instance, three young members of my family are said to have drowned, but at least two of them were paddling in very shallow water; what might have caused them to collapse into it?

As far as the Isle of Man is concerned, I am currently looking at the Peel family, and descendants , of Thomas Gorry c1810 and Mary Kaighin c1814. At least thee of their sons died aged, respectively, 8, 1 and 2.

regards

Alan
