Re: Moores
In Response To: Re: Moores ()

Hi Sylvia,

I have not done any research on the rest of the children from Shimmin / Moore side as of yet except for John Shimmin who I believe married an Elinor Shimmin, (see Quilliam postings on message board here) The other Shimmin I was trying to track was Thomas, I believe he left the Isle and married an Ann Kinsman from Derbyshire, I found a tombstone and inscription which matches with his time of christening in the USA, ( Ithink he came to the USA in the mid 1830's?) which is where Robert Watt(s) and Anne Moore settled in 1844.

Anne Moore, daughter of Thomas Moore & Anne Shimmin, married to Robert Watt; her brother William Moore also came to the USA on 12 Jun 1844 on packet ship Hottinguer from Liverpool. William Moore c. 1813, died in 1851, on 1850 USA census it shows him to be married to an Elonor, she was from the Isle of Man also, I do not have her maiden name.

The only other item I know about Thomas Moore, the one married to Anne Shimmin, was he was supposed to own a tavern or pub on the Isle, apparently divorced her (Anne) and re-married someone else. (story from my dad's cousin)

If you can figure out which Thomas Moore married Anne or Sarah from parish records, 2 lines of families will be corrected.
