THis family is known as "Quine the Battery" after their former croft at East Baldwin.

I met a Mrs L.M. Fleming years ago and her brother Mr W Quine of Southport then owned the croft.

I have tried to trace the origins of John Quine the tailor who was born in Onchan about 1793 and married Margaret Kelly at Braddan 1817. He bought The Battery 1824 and the Thie Phillip 1831. The latter he left to his daughter Mrs Jelly.

I have never been able to prove whose line John belonged to. Not as far as I can tell the Arderry Quines, who lived next to the Battery. See my websitre for the Arderry Quines www.manxroots.com
