I live in London, and my interest is in my link to the IOM. We are linked to the Gick family of Cordeman which is in the south near Port St Mary. The Parishes there are Rushen, Malew, Santon, Ballasalla. It is still a large farming area.
The Gicks were listed as landowner farmers.
What can be confusing is that though it is an unusual name the name is often spelled different ways, one of them being Jack.
While I believe I have got the link right, I am looking for further confirmation. The family is also connected to the Douglas area which is often listed as Onchan.
This may appear separate on the map today. the parish of Onchan spread right into most of Douglas.
So, anyone with information on the Gicks would love to hear from you.
