I live in London and in recent years have been investigating my Family History. I'd never been to the I o M until 3 years ago, when I met a few relatives. I returned the following year with my family and intend to go again, as I love it.
My father, Bill Preston, was born in Ramsey, but before that, the PRESTONS and Corrins came from Castletown and moved up and down Malew Street and off it ...as their families grew and decreased in size.
There are also WALKINGTONS from there and CASHINS from Peel. I had a fascinating time working out exactly who Thomas CASHIN married (3 women) and how many children he had by them! He had an affair with my great grandmother who produced my grandmother, in between wives 1 and 2, but subsequently married her!
OTHER NAMES: CHRISTIAN, KELLY, KILLEY, GARRETT,LEWIS ... I'm still working on these.
