My great-grandfather was Herbert Lewin Wood, born in Castletown in 1870. He took his pension from the Gordon Highlanders and brough the family to Battle Creek, Michigan, aboard the HMS Metagama on Oct 6, 1922. His daughter, Dora Lewin Wood, my grandmother, came with her new husband, James Blackie, born in Paisley Scotland. The trip commenced on my Great-Grandmother's birthday!

My father was the first born in the US on that side of the family and met up with my German-heritage mother in Michigan. I'm the result.

My main lines (so far) on the island are Wood(s), Lewin, Corlett, Teare, & Kewley. I've met lots of wonderful people here on the board and look forward to sharing lots more data!

Regards,
Barbara
