BUT
There was a John Skeally b Castletown who married Margaret Collister / Callister and went with his wife and children to Cumbria where he died in 1924. That John Skeally was a miner. There are at least a dozen trees on Ancestry which WRONGLY state that he was John Skelley b 1848 (son of William Skelly and Margaret Leece).

Could the record below be the baptism of the John Skelly who married Margaret Callister in Jan 1865 Malew, giving his address as Queen Street, Castletown and his father’s details as “John Skelly, butler” ? Could he have had little or no contact with his biological father and been vague about the christian name of his father, but knew that he’d been in service in a large house in Castletown ? In 1841 there was an 18yr old footman b IOM at Government House, Castletown, named Samuel Skelly.
