I am researching my ancestral line which starts in Isle of Man. I am in need of someone in IOM to help me fill in my missing pieces and to help me solve a mystery. My Great Great Grandfather, James Radcliffe, came from IOM and immigrated to the USA in about 1870. He was born on October 10th in either 1843 or 1845. The only record that I have found for that birth date is James Radcliffe son of John Radcliffe (1810-?) from Andreas and Anne Corlett (1805-1852) of Lezayre. The record that I found also includes a twin brother, Robert, born at the same time (1845). This discovery is promising as I have a substantial amount of DNA matches to trees with Corletts from Lezayre. It looks like John Radcliffe and Anne Corlett also had other children: Henry Radcliffe (1836-?), Charles Radcliffe (1838-1844), and Ann Radcliffe (1840-?). There also appears to be half-siblings from John Radcliffe and his first wife Isabella Lord (1806-1835) of Lezayre. Those children are Catherine Radcliffe (1826-?), William Radcliffe (1829-1853), Thomas Radcliffe (1832-?), and Edward Radcliffe (1835-1867). I am really confused, however, because after further research, I found a death record for the same James Radcliffe for a few months later at a couple of months old. I am wondering if my James Radcliffe is actually Robert Radcliffe who took his dead twin brother's name when he immigrated to the USA. Records of the twin brother, Robert Radcliffe, seem to cease after my James Radcliffe left IOM. Is there anyone with knowledge of this particular family who may be able to help me out?
