Way back in 2013 you (Frances, David, Jean C.) provided a wealth of information on John Kelly, High Bailiff of Castletown b 1794, d 1854 Castletown – and his descendants. His parents were James Kelly and Catherine Moore. James’ parents were John Kelly b 1699 “Merchant of Peel” and Christian Fine/Fyne Smith b 1743. I do not have anything prior the latter two. In A.W. Moore’s Manx Notebook, Manx Families, “Kelly’s of Peel,” Moore begins by saying “This family is known to be a very old one in the Island, but there is no regular record of it before John (born 1699, obit 1762).” Since Moore’s statement was written in 1899 and I have not been able to find this John Kelly’s ancestors, I would appreciate any help that you can find on his ancestors.
