Re: George Harrison's great grandmother, Ann Caley

Hi Eric

Ancestry has updated its “Liverpool Marriages and Banns” recently and I’ve found the 1878 marriage of James Thomson and Ann Caley. Ann gave her father’s details as: John Caley, shoemaker.

I’ve worked through the list of John Caley entries in 1841 and 1851 using Brian Lawson’s indexes and I’ve only found one shoemaker on the IOM in those censuses. There’s also a John Caley (with a strange occupation ?) in the right age group living very near the Lord household at Glenauldyn. He was the son of John Caley and Ann Gill.

I’ve looked (without success) for a suitable candidate off-island.

It would be very helpful if someone had access to Lezayre Presentments for 1854/5/6/7 --- there might be an entry for Eleanor Crellin / Lord whose illegitimate child was baptised in 1855 (without any mention of the child’s father).
