I'm interested in the oldest recording of the Manx surname Oates. From what I've seen from another researcher the earliest date is 1580. I'm wondering if anyone is aware of any older dated records where the Oates occurs?

The Keigs & Oates share a common male ancestor about 700 years ago & I'm curious to see how Oates was spelt originally.
