Sue, that's devastating news - so sad to hear. He helped me immensely with his meticulous notes and helpful critiques of my work. Our last correspondence was from back in 2009 when he sent me an email with over 200 corrections/notes/comments on my Kaighins of Bride, Jurby and Maughold. He sent me that just as I was preparing to move from Hawaii to Florida and I knew at the time that I wouldn't have the time to adequately respond to it. Then life caught up with me, and other areas of my project took priority, and quite frankly, I had forgotten about that email until I unearthed it about a week ago. So I have been going through that email point by point, writing up my responses and updating my database with his additions and corrections over the last few days.

It's a tremendous disappointment to not be able to continue the conversation with him. He was a brilliant researcher and very generous with his time. I'm also sad that he didn't get to see my completed work that he had such a huge hand in.
