George Harrison's great grandmother, Ann Caley

Thomas Henry Lord married Eleanor Quayle in Michael in 1824. They farmed in Lezayre for many years, much of the time at Glenauldyn. One of their daughters was Eleanor Lord b 1828 Lezayre.

Eleanor Lord married Thomas Crellin in Lezayre in 1849. They had 2 children, George 1849-49 and William 1850-53. It appears that the marriage broke down because over the following 15 years, Eleanor gave birth to 3 illegitimate children whose baptisms in the Lezayre register all state “illegitimate child of Eleanor Crellin alias Lord, married woman of Glen Audlyn.” They were Annie b 1855, Eleanor Jane b 1860 and Robert Henry b 1868.

R. Simson 12
Sarah Thomson 5

Note
R Simson age 12 grandson (Robert Henry b 1868 whose father was a Mr Simpson)
Sarah Thomson age 5 grdau (but should be great granddaughter). She was the illegitimate daughter of Annie Caley b 1855, born Sarah Ann Lord at Glenauldyn when Annie and her mother were both using the surname Lord. By 1881, Annie was married to James Thompson, hence the surname of Sarah in the Lezayre 1881 census.

This is the entry which strongly suggests that we have the right family for the Annie Caley who married James Davidson Thompson.

*******
There are several trees on Ancestry which state (incorrectly) that Annie, wife of James Davidson Thompson, was Ann Jane Lord b 1853, illegit daughter of Jane Kneale of Sulby.

As for John Caley, father of Annie Caley b 1855, I suspect that he might have been John Caley b 1829 Lezayre, son of John Caley and Catherine Gelling. But it would be difficult to prove.
