Re: John Colvin born c1799 in parish of German

Hi David,

Thank you so much! I had the children of John Colvin and Jane Kneale but had been unable to track their parents with any degree of confidence, so this is a tremendous help.

I just have a couple of additional comments/questions:

I think the second Ann you question mark as being the last daughter of John Colvin and Jane Kneale (baptised 1839) is a red herring. I believe the earlier Ann married William Cleator (26 Nov 1863 in Lezayre) and her ages on the 1881 and 1891 censuses support her being the Ann christened in 1834. I believe I have the correct Ann regarding this marriage as, after William Cleator died in 1904, Ann was living with her brother Cornelius Colvin come the 1911 census. I think a second Ann is therefore unlikely given the first one appears to have survived and remained on the island - perhaps a (late) second christening of the original Ann for some reason?

I believe John Colvin and Jane Kneale had twins late on - Margaret Elizabeth and Susan Amelia, both baptised on 4 Oct 1845 in Andreas - but they both died at 11 months and were buried in Andreas - Margaret Elizabeth on 16 Sep 1846 and Susan Amelia on 11 Sep 1846. Have you come across these twins in your own research?

Kind regards and thank you again,

Peter
