I had noticed the Africa note, although wasn't entirely sure if this was an old IoM reference!!
Interestingly, Richard Bridson Holroyd - son of Richard Ellis and Charlotte Ellen Clucas Holroyd (nee Bridson) was the son who was on the census in Liverpool in 1891 as lodger (when his family was in IoM) - he then appears to have left to Africa. Having issues tracing the the Africa part
