Re: Lynchey family
In Response To: Lynchey family ()

Hi Peter,

First thoughts were they would have to be brothers, both born Ireland, and 10 years apart, and the only males of that name in 1841. The first recorded death of any Lynchey on the IOM was Catherine 1850, she was aged 2 years and 4 months, next one was Charles' wife Elizabeth in 1859.
Charles and his wife Elizabeth are the only named Lynchey/Linchey/Lynchy on the IOM in 1841.
Andrew married Jane Irwin(e) 15/6/1841 Ballaugh, IOM. He is shown as a minor, she is not, the marriage took place with the consent of William Quayle, guardian of Andrew Lynchey. Neither Andrew or Jane are on the IOM 1841 census, both born Ireland, so not sure how William Quayle could be his guardian. Why would not Charles be the guardian ?
Charles is not shown as a sponsor of any children that I could find.
Census 1851 - cannot find Andrew & Jane and children, 1861 census they are both 38 and 1871 both 50.
Charles does not seem to have had any children, I cannot find his marriage to Elizabeth, or any baptisms to them. They are the same age on 1841 census ,but he is shown as 37 on 1851 census and Elizabeth is 50. No children listed on 1841/51 , in 1851 she is shown born Castletown, IOM.
