Thanks Frances, only realised that this was a second thread when Narelle mentioned the sinking in the Clarence River in Australia , I had not read all that threads IOM search.
George Brian/Kneen is interesting , like Margaret Bryon aged 5 in 1851, he cannot be Hugh Bryan/Brian/Byron's son.
I was suspecting John K aged 30 in 1851 and 37 in 1861 could be the illegitimate son of Margaret Brian als Kneen before she married Hugh Brian. But could not find proof, too many JK's.
Maybe George did not know his father and used John as he knew of him. William K is also a suspect.
Maybe Narelle should research what happened to Margaret Byron b 1846 , to try to find what parentage she gave
