Thanks so much for your assistance. My guess is that it would be a John because the family was frugal with the name choices They alternated between William and John. I will do a bit more research. I tracked to a William in 1814 and Isabelle Clague who appeared to have William and Margaret Corrin (or Cowin) in about 1780-1790 as parents. I will try to use your advice and retrace the steps to be sure.
