Re Stanley , I found his 1913 death listed on the UK Free BMD under the District of West Derby.
When I looked for his death on the Lancashire Online Parish Records (free) to confirm it , there was no record for West Derby, so looked for Stanley , and it was not listed, there are thousands of villages/towns/districts listed. I was basically trying to find how accurate the site was.
There was no marriage record for them , quite a few Robert Clark/s , but not the right one.
I also checked Scotland as well , to no avail.
I could not find Robert Clarke or his parents on 1871-1901 UK census , have you found him ?
The only other possibility is Ireland, but there does not seem any reason to suggest that.
