The death of Mrs. Anetta Corkill, which.
occurred at the home of her daughter.
Mrs. W. R. Wilson, Waharoa, on Saturday.
removes one whose associations with.
Aratapu in its more palmy days of the.
sawmilling boom are gratefully remem-.
bered by many people who received her.
kindly assistance. She was known as.
” the mother of Aratapu, “ and in time.
of sickness or hardship she gave generous.
assistance to afflicted families. The Corkill.
home was open to many and it was the.
social meeting place of Aratapu.
Born at Moneymore, Ireland, 82 years ago.
Mrs. Corkill arrived in Auckland with her.
parents in the early sixties, the family settled.
at Thames and it was there that deceased was.
married to the late Mr. William Corkill, who.
later was engaged at a bakery business at Otahuhu.
In the early eighties the family came to Aratapu to.
take over a bakery business there. Mrs. Corkill was a.
prominent worker for the Methodist Church. Mr. Corkill.
died several years ago. Mrs. Corkill is survived by five.
daughters and three sons.
