Dawn, if you look at other entries on the same page of the Malew baptism register, you’ll see that the vicar writes in the christian name and maiden surname of the mothers. But in the case of Eleanor Quayle’s baptism he just wrote “Christian his wife”.

There are no other children baptised around this time to a Wm Quayle/Christian (with unknown surname) apart from a large family in Ballaugh.

If you look at Malew births to a Wm Quayle whose wife’s maiden surname was Christian, there is one couple who had 2 children in 1804 and 1811
