Thanks for your response. I did check the notebook and there I found multiple references for "Robert Grant" or just "Robt Grant" in the Public Houses of the Peel section. I also found a ton of newspapers ads for his business from the newspaper collection provided by the Manx Museum. He moved his pub/hotel around a lot, the first one seems to have been where the Peveril currently is. He also occupied the old "Peel Castle Hotel" on Market-Place. Are you familiar with Peel? I would like to ask you a few questions if I may.

You said you couldn't find any record of him buying property there, that makes sense because I found out he sold his military retirement earlier on to help his mother who lost everything in a fire in London. Thanks for that.
