Re: More Andreas records
In Response To: Re: More Andreas records ()

Hi - Sorry for being unclear. Here is the previous thread I referred to, originally posted 15 AUG 2015.

Frances: "there is a 6d quarterland rent in treen of Ballahestine in Andreas held by Philip Tear in 1760 with a note of a change to ownership going thro court in Oct 1761 (this would be noted in Lib Vas) (see Manxnotebook for background to property + transfers), he also held it in 1750 - there is no note of Phil holding land in 1740 but a 6d rent in about the same position on rent roll was held by Margt Kelly + Wm Sail that went thru court in 1748 + 1749

I don't have photos of this period for Andreas + I can't see any deed of sale that would match so probably land descended by will - also I don't have photo of post 1750 Lib assed to check who held land post 1761 (should be a Wm?) - but I should be back in Peel and then Manx Museum next Weds".

My question was referring to this post: wondering where you got the seemingly Lib Vas data from and if I need to visit a FHC or if it's on your CD and I'm just missing it.

Another post that same day was very insightful, I thought, and matched my circumstances perfectly:

Frances: "the couple Philip Tear + Alice Curghy match well
their will summaries (on www.manxnotebook.com) are
Phil: d 10 jan 1784(will made 9th);dau joney,ann,margt;son wm + john exors Alice: d 17 jan 1784(will made 14th);dau Joney,ann,margt;sons wm + john exors

they married Andreas 17450511 with Phil noted as (Lord) ?

their children bapt
Joney Andreas 17460427
Wm: Bride 17500610
Margt Ramsey 17530210
John Andreas 17590208
the last 3 supposed as mo's name not given in reg
(didn't find Ann but suspect Ramsey as that reg very deficient)".

Lyle: However, Dugdale's 1757 census and 1761 Lib Ass work has different names for the wives of Philip Tear of Larebane (Catherine Sayle for Philip Sr) and a Christn Christian for Philip Jr of same place. Just trying to reconcile to make sure I have the right person, at the right time, in the right place!

Thanks
Lyle
