Re: Looney family of Lonan Parish

Additional data that may help in sorting out the Daniel's of Lonan Parish. If you look at Lezayre Parish marriages you will find that there was a father and son, Daniel Looney Sr and Daniel Looney Jr., of Lonan Parish, who married a Mother and Daughter there on 7 Jan 1700/01. Daniel Sr. married the mother, Bahee (Clark als) Lawson who had been married to a Clark. Daniel Jr. married her daughter, Mary Clark.

Bahee Looney (als Clark als Lawson) died 27 Dec 1703. Lonan will names Dau: Mary Looney als Clark and son-in-law: Daniel Looney.

It is difficult to tell, but it appears that Daniel Looney Sr. died in 1707 not long after Bahee. He is identified as "Old Daniel" Looney in his Lonan Parish will.

Daniel Looney Jr. appears to have died 29 Mar 1729 in Lonan Parish. His widow, Mary Looney als Clark seems to have a burial record in Lezayre Parish of 14 Mar 1761.

The farm "Ballamoar" in Lonan Parish is associated with these two Daniel Looney (Sr and Jr.).

Lezayre Parish seems to come up again with the marriage of what appears to be yet another Daniel Looney of Lonan Parish who married Grace Stevenson als Casement of Lezayre Parish on 22 Oct 1717.

Grace Casement is an interesting story. Lezayre Parish 28 Feb 1699/1700 Presentment records show that Grace was "Deflowered" by Edward Gawne (b. 21-10-1676 Malew Parish) who first went to Prison and then later decided to pay rather than enter into marriage with Grace. Grace then married (1) Wm Stevenson on 21 Nov 1704, (2) Daniel Looney 22 Oct 1717.

Daniel & Grace Looney apparently had one son together named William Looney that was in Ireland when is mother's will was written. Grace was buried in Lezayre Parish 11 May 1724.

It appears that the Daniel Looney who married Grace Stevenson Als Casement had been married to Mary Moor who died 1697 [will] in Lonan Parish leaving a husband: Danl Loony and children: Dan, Jane, Ellinr and James.

Daniel Looney's will shows that he died 29 Feb 1719 and his 26 Apr 1720 will names his wife: Grace and children: Ellinr, Daniel, Jane and William.

This 1720 will uncovers yet another Daniel Looney. This Daniel appears to be the one who married (1) Jane Kissack 1734 in St. Anne and (2) Elizabeth Calow 19 Jan 1745 in Lonan. Jane was buried 11 Mar 1742 and Elizabeth died 1761. Daniel "of Ballamoar" died ~12 Mar 1767.

Lonan Parish burial records begin in 1716 and they show four Daniel Looney buried in Lonan:
Daniel Looney "of Skinscoe" (Skynskow) buried 1 Mar 1719
Daniel Looney "of Ballamoar" buried 30 Mar 1729
Danl Looney "of Pole Killey" buried 9 Oct 1744
Daniel Looney "of Ballamoar" buried 18 Mar 1767
Add in "Ole Daniel Looney" who died in 1707 [Will Record] and that makes five different Daniel Looney who died in Lonan Parish.

I guess the one big question from all this is whether Grace Stevenson Ala Casement married Daniel Looney (Sr) who is recorded in Lezayre Parish marriage records as having married Bahee Lawson, or did Bahee marry the "Old Daniel Looney" identified in the 1707 Lonan Parish will? Grace's husband Daniel is the one buried 1 Mar 1719 and was identified as being "of Skniscoe". Old maps show that Skynskow and Ballamoar are adjoining properties in Lonan Parish.
