I just looked at the Family Search website and there is an image of the Bradden Parish marriage record that shows the 5 Apr 1809 marriage of John Looney and Elinor Corteen. This marriage record clearly states that John Looney was of Maughold Parish and Elinor was of Bradden Parish. Both John and Elinor appear to have signed with their mark.

John and Elinor's children seem to be recorded in the birth records of Ramsey under the parents names of John Looney and Elinor Cotteen (vs Corteen).

Based on the marriage, birth and 1841 census records, I am convinced this is John Looney b. 1770, son of Daniel Looney and Isabel Cashen.
