Hi Sylvia

I’d previously looked at this John Clague b circa 1759 and decided that, in order to avoid angst, this is as far as I can reliably go back to on this particular branch of our Clagues. I was surprised to discover that he was “of Braddan” at his Malew marriage to Cath Kermod in 1780 --- I’d assumed he would have been born in Arbory having lived there and in Santon (as far as I know) all his married life, and having been buried in Arbory. I wonder whether he was born in a parish other than Braddan but had moved there for work in his young adulthood and had lived there for long enough to be “of Braddan” by the age of 21. If he was indeed the John Clague bap Sept 1760 Braddan to Thomas Clague and Margaret Clague, then he had 2 slightly older siblings, Kath 1757 and William 1758.

What do you know about the eldest son, John bap 28 Oct 1782 Malew, apart from the fact that he was still alive when his mother wrote her will in 1833? I’m still trying to identify a photo of a Jno Clague on the imuseum site who bears such a strong resemblance to our Thomas b 1790 that he could almost be the same person. Perhaps he could be a John Clague, son of John b 1782, or there again, he could be John Clague b 1814, son of Thomas Clague and Esther Kneen.
