Hi Viv

This may be his burial:

KEWLEY, Thomas 76 Lonan 19 May 1915

*******
I can only see one entry in the IGI for a Santon baptism of a Thomas Kewley between 1829 and 1846 (parents Matthias Kewley and Margaret Callister). Looking for a Santon-born TK in the later censuses:

1901
Cooil Roy ? Lonan

Ancestry’s transcription:

Name Age
Edward Corlett 39
Elizabeth Aikens 60
Thomas Kewley 65
James Dobson 19

notes:
TK unmarried general labourer on farm b Santon
If TK had only had one short-lived marriage over 20 years earlier, might he have been thought of as a single man by the person who gave the information ?

*************
1891
Glen Roy, Lonan

Ancestry’s transcription:
Name Age
John Kelly 29
Thomas Kewley 50
Daniel Callister 18
Emma Quill 25
Benjamin Kelly 15

notes:
TK 50 widower general labourer on farm b Santon

********
1881
Baldrine ? Road, Lonan

Thomas Kewly (marital status ditto below a dubious entry which looks more like wid than unm ) 40 lead miner b Santon

*********
1871
Baldrine, Lonan

Ancestry’s transcription:

Name Age
Thos Kelly 50
Jane Kelly 32
Thos W Kelly 10
Walter Kelly 8
Thos Kewley 32
Hugh Clucas 19
Archibald Simson 17
Benjamin Brew 15
Anne J Kewley 16

notes:
TK 32 unm farm servant indoor b Braddan

This is the most likely entry for him even though the parish is wrong.

********
Hope this helps.
