Re: Ballamona Asylum Records
In Response To: Re: Ballamona Asylum Records ()

I've received a transcript of the register entry for my relative. I also have an option to receive a copy of the register entry. I'm going to pay for a scan of the entry to be sent to me by e-mail. My relation was there for 3 years and left because he recovered.

Here is a general guide to these records:-

Ballamona Asylum records are stored at the Isle of Man Public Record Office. Records of Ballamona Asylum are not generally available for the public to view, but permission can be granted by the Isle of Man Mental Health Service to release information relating to your relative to you. They ask for the removal of all references to other individuals before providing you with the information. This is in order to protect the confidentiality of other patients and individuals mentioned in the records and the privacy of their families.

An e-mail can be sent to you free in which they have copied the information from the register. If you would like to receive a copy of the register entry (for personal use only) there are two options available. They can supply a scanned copy by e-mail or print-outs of the entry by post. Both options for a small charge.
