I’ve managed to find out more information about Mrs Kermode. She is the Catherine Kermode at the Mona Castle in Port Erin on the 1881 Census. She was born Catherine Cubbon daughter of William Cubbon and Esther Cooile and baptised at Rushen on 16 Oct 1836. She married John Maddrell at Rushen on 18 Jan 1859. They had a son called John Stretford Nelson Maddrell baptised at Rushen on 27 Nov 1859. Her husband died I think he was the John Maddrell of Ballahane, Rushen, aged 24 years old, who was buried at Rushen on 31 May 1859. Catherine married James Kermode at Rushen on 11 Aug 1863. Catherine Kermode of Port Erin died on 23 Jan 1894 and was buried at Rushen on 26 Jan 1894.
