def no sale by a Lawrence (Larence etc) Kelly - the whole story sounds very non-Manx (non-Manx name, 2 forenames, 'preacher' etc ..) I wonder if the Isle of Man is taken in a metaphorical sense as there was tract - CLARK (Rev. Samuel). A Mirrour or Looking Glass both for Saints and Sinners . . . collected out of the most Classique Authors . . . The Isle of Man described, published from 1671 which must have been popular as went through several editions - absolutely nothing to do with the Island - the Isle of Man is taken as a metaphor for humanity isolated from God
