I'm still struggling with this one. I had thought William was baptised at Malew on 7 May 1721 son of William. His death and will from 1760 seemed to match this baptism until I saw a note that appears on various burial transcripts saying son of John Harvel. So this would infer he was illegitimate unless this note has been wrongly transcribed. I wasn't able to view the original burial record at the museum recently to check the text. No sign of a John Harvel on the island. Any ideas anyone?
