Renshant is an Abbey farm rent 6s 8d (see www.manxnotebook.com for details etc) -

in 1709 p 27 of Liber Monestarum (wch records land transfers etc of Abbey property is a court case brought by Robert Gick against John Caine of Renshant for recovery of the farm (it had it seems originallly been tried in 1699 but the jury then decided that Gick had not proved his case - the 1709 is an appeal and in this case Gick wins and Cain loses Renshant - Cain appeals this decision and produces an authentic conveyance and overturns verdict - court notes that Cain was in possession from at least 1643 and that the traverse(appeal) jury had misunderstood the 1593 statute used as basis for appeal
