Re: KEWLEY Ballaragh, Lonan
In Response To: Re: kewley family history ()

Hi Phil,

On your Ballaragh tree do you have Skillicorns recorded? If so you are in luck. There were numerous connections between Skillicorn and Kewley families in Ballaragh, Lonan, and Lois Ralph (on this board) has done a lot of work on them, with help from Eric Gelling and others. She has Lonan maps and many other records.

You can see some of the Kewley marriage contracts here: www.mannincloud.info/Marr_cont/_mcon-index.html
and transcribed wills: www.jurbyjim.com/IOM/Wills_files/KemtoKez.htm
[See also the ones under Skillicorn.]

In Lois's Lonan records there was Thomas Skillicorn of Ballaragh b. before 1685, bur. 1717, marr. 1709, Margaret Kewley, daughter of James and Margaret (Quine) Kewley, and granddaughter of John and Catherine (Kneal) Kewley. Margaret married second, 1717/18, Gilbert Karran.
- And many other connections with Kewley.

In my own Skillicorn family there were several marriages to Kewley.
