Records for the Garrison in Castletownd

Hello again,

I am looking for records for an individual who may have been at the Castletown Garrison, somewhere between 1795 and 1840. His death (in Castletown, 1844) mentions that he was a “pensioner” and our own records indicate he may have been an “M.D.” or surgeon. He was born in Scotland but that is hard to find as he has a common name.

I have looked on FindMyPast but don’t know if any Castletown records would be included there. If they are then how do I find them? Otherwise, where else could I search? I don’t know which regiment he may have been affiliated with.

Could someone direct me as to where I might find this information? The individual I seek is a Murdoch (or Murdock) McLeod. He married Mary Jane Gale (widow of William Johnson) in Malew in 1829. All of Mary Ann’s weddings were at Malew. Thirdly Mary Ann married my ancestor Richard Cooil. So, I am trying to piece together some information.

I know also that Murdoch McLeod died in Malew; however, I cannot trace a burial for him. I have tried the iMuseum, no luck there, cannot locate this anywhere.

I would appreciate any help. Thank you!

Lynn
